Postgraduate Courses in Family Therapy

Provided in conjunction with Swinburne University

Williamsroad provides specialist postgraduate Family & Systemic Therapy training in conjunction with Swinburne University of Technology. The Postgraduate program is suitable for qualified health, community and mental health practicioners who want to learn more about, or specialise in, Family & Systemic Therapy.

As a means of maintaining the high standard of training, all our courses are conducted by expert clinicians who are also senior research staff. Class sizes remain small, allowing for a personal teaching environment, focused on participants' particular interests, professional development needs, and the growth of their unique therapeutic style, while covering material on the cutting edge of research and core clinical advances in the field.

The one-year Graduate Certificate covers core theory and practice techniques of Family Therapy and an introduction to systemic thinking in the context of working with families.

The two year Graduate Diploma develops a greater depth of theory, and group supervision structures for the student to develop those ideas in their own family therapy practice. This course is recommended for students wishing to become practicing family therapists.

The one-year Masters program follows from the Graduate Diploma. Material goes right to the current edge of research in family & human systems in both theory and practice, and group supervision further develops clinical teamwork structures and skills.

Course Locations

The Graduate Certificate and Graudate Diploma of Social Science (Family Therapy) are taught entirely at the purpose-built premises of Williamsroad Family Therapy Centre, at 298 Hawthorn Road, Caulfield.
